Using a GPS to Find Speed Traps?

ok I have a GPS which is cool, but I found this online and wondered if it works like it says it does, basicly you down load poi maps that are updated as needed. when your moving around in your car, it 'alerts you' to 'known' speed traps and traffic cameras.

Sounds cool ( I want it), does anyone on here use something like this? I think there are a couple of sites that do this. this is the one I was looking at.

You can get free POI files, including traffic files, at http://poi-factory.com/.

I'm unsure how this would be effective as "speed traps" will move about daily unless the "spotters" are continually updating their locations. It sounds like an expensive feel good toy, that will let you get caught. I just don't speed and if you are unable to control your right foot, maybe you shouldn't be behind the wheel to begin with.

I also see the speed trap part of it unreliable and difficult for them to keep updated. An actual radar detector would most likely be best for that. On the speed cams and traffic light cams I have a Tom Tom and every time you plug it in the PC it updates those lame cameras. It warns you about 1 or 1/2 mile before you get to one in case you are not paying attention to your speed. I love that feature. I don't speed either, however when you are keeping up with traffic sometimes you just don't realize how fast you are going and the alerts definately help.

The Escort radar detectors also have speed trap/camera warnings that can be updated monthly. Mine works extremely well.
