Sounds like it should work nicely, none of us have $$ to throw around. The type S is a nice upgrade, you will be happy with them. One 12" sub should be all you need. Good luck, and keep us informed. Todd (Uma)

Maybe I came off wrong and offended you, hench the rude post. So maybe you should school me. My point was...that if you are not going to replace the headunit, or the door speakers...then maybe a couple of 12'' subs with an amp may be overkill. Like I said, I am not a pro, and you obviously are. Then wouldn't you have to tune the subs so low that they are worthless. I thought that speakers work best at their peak powerage. So maybe less sub, properly powered would save a little $$. I don't pass judgement on anyone, just tried to help..sorry if I offended. Todd (Uma)

LOL, sure a single 12" would do. Even a quality single 10" in a well built box and amped properly would be a balance for the rest of the system.
Is a dual 12" box overkill? Will it shake your fillings loose? Im hoping so.

Thanks for the opinion on the type S alpines, is that from personal experience? Im going to listen to them in store, but its not the same as in the car.

RF punch series is the way to go for the door speakers. Three ways in the front with the tweeters in your a-pillar. two ways in the rear. Remember, if one sub is good, three is better :)

Like Hugh said, it depends on what you want...your preference. I like everything balanced. Ok maybe the bass a little high. LOL. I have two 10's. And no crap here, it will shake my foot off the brake pedal. It is all in the tuning, etc, etc. But you may not want to spend the $$ that I have, or Hugh, or many others. Stay in your budget. Me personally..I would have a little sound, and spend my $$ on appearance. Drop it, wheels, etc. Sounds come last! Todd (Uma)

Sorry but sound was the first thing done to mine, maybe I lowered it first i don't know. Once you get that thump in your system you don't want to let it go. Lot easier to put a sound system in then lower, paint, and all.

I wasnt trying to be rude. My apologizies. I have seen ppl run stock head units and be world champs. Kirk Proffitt of AL, uses a stock Acura TL HU and aftermarket everything else. Also seen stock systems score nicely as aftermarket stuff. David Hogan also of AL ran his stock Chrysler SRT-8 300 system at a show and scored mid 70s on 100 point scale. Both are current or previous world champs in MECA. Most SQ setups have the subs turned down so low you really hafta listen to here them. The only play from 50hz or lower on down. Mine are set at 50hz. Speakers work best at their RMS power(and frequency range) not peak for extended listening.

Thanks Hugh...you have schooled me LOL. I think I need you to do my work! I understand nothing about setting speakers at 50hz, etc, etc. Just tell my guy to set the amps so I don't blow my stuff up! Thanks, and post some pics of your car. Todd (Uma)

It's all in how you set up the amps and what frequency you want. Agreed on the rms power range too, many people buy a amp with the rating of 1000 watts on the box thinking they have a 1000 watt amp when all they really have is one that is 500 rms with a peak of 1000. Some companies put their peek power on the box to confuse the comsumer, others are truthful and put their rms power on the box. Never really know which unless someone or the company is truthfull with you.
