I hardwired my XM to the fuse panel by the passenger seat, mainly to turn off the xm when I open my door, a neater look, and to free up the lighter socket for chargers, gps, etc.

It looks a little shoddy, but it works!

I took the cap off of the lighter plug, and removed the little spring loaded nub and fuse, wrapped wire around the inner contact, as well as one of the side ground springs, and wrapped 'er all up with some electrical tape.



I bought an Add-a-Circuit.... WELL worth the $6, and plugged it into the #21 Fuse location (with a 5A mini-fuse to match the one I removed from the cigarette plug)



I grounded it with a simple alligator clip on the bracket used to hold the cover for the fuse block.



And here is where I mounted it.... ran the wires through the vent:

Nice job. I have mine in the same location, but still using the cig socket, how do you have it hooked up the the aux imput? (couldn't see in the pics) Looks like i will be using your idea. Where did you get the add a fuse thing?

 

I just fed it down and through the side of the dash next to the radio.... added an aux splitter in case i want to add an mp3 or anything





I got the Add-a-Circuit at Advanced Auto Parts for about $6.50

 

Very similar to how I did mine, except I spent another $4 and purchased another lighter socket and wired that to the add-a-fuse instead of hacking up the XM adapter. I also used a ring terminal to ground to one of the bolts supporting the BCM/fuse panel. It all tucks perfectly hidden behind the fuse panel cover.
