XM Radio

Hi gang,

I was wondering how I can go about finding and installing the XM component for the radio. Do I need to purchase a stock radio that is already XM compatible or can I just take the radio out, install the component the way they would have in the factory, and voila.. satellite radio? Forgive my ignorance but GM cs said the Onstar and XM work independantly of each other so I assume that either the radio itself has a component in it, or is assembled with it.

If I buy the component on Ebay or CL, how do I knwo that it would work with my stock radio and can I buy a factory XM equipped radio or am I better off just getting an aftermarket unit to fit in dash?

Thanks in advance!

I think the XM radio is coded, As you have to get a new subcr. if you replace the radio.

You can get the GM XM accessory kit installed if your HHR is equipped with the correct options. Check the option list on the bottom of your glove box.
