2006 abs light on

ABS light came on today when I was exiting a snowbank, or driving up the street and went to turn, the Low Traction warning came on , anyhow, now the ABS light stayed on. My reader won't give me BS codes so maybe it will reset after sitting overnight?? A guy could hope anyways. It is supposed to warm up next week so Ii could check it out then. (temps in the 50's) We got about a foot of snow yesterday and it got covered pretty good. I was driving the Land Rover to work and back. Glad I did as they pulled the plows before I started home. a white knuckle drive . 2 hours to drive 43 miles.

maybe the rings are full of snow??

The lights came on initially because the ABS was activated at some point. Some auto parts stores use a reader capable of reading ABS codes, however the codes are mostly good for pinpointing the corner that has a problem.
Have your rear brakes been adjusted? Basically it means that the sensors think 1 wheel is turning at a different speed than the others. That could be because the rear brakes are loose.

I have been driving this for about a month, no lights previously but today I was driving in slippery conditions due to about a foot of snow on the ground. I had to move it so they could plow the roads so it is parked in a lot about 2 blocks away right now. I am hoping it is just snow packed in the reluctor rings, or maybe a strange error that popped up. I have seen a few errors that didn't make sense but was able to reset them without them returning. We shall see what happens tomorrow I guess. it is difficult to drive with those wide tires in ice and snow.

Some of those codes that "don't make sense" can cause the ABS and Traction lights.

The abs sensors are integrated into the hub, so I would be investigating the connectors , as Donbrew points out the rear drum brakes might need adjustment, the lights can also be caused by low battery voltage, VVT solenoid problems, rodents dining on wires.

Walked down and picked up the vehicle(s) drove the HHR about 30 ft down the road and the ABS light went out. so whatever the problem was, went away. The grandson tried to open the dash storage and it wouldn't open. a few seconds later, it opened on it's own. Maybe this thing has an evil spirit, or at least a playful one.
