2010 LT 2.2 Suspension+ Replacement: Strut/Shock/Link/Speed Sensor Hub/Rotor

After dealing with a lengthy clunky noise coming from the front end for the last several months, I've come to the conclusion that it's time for a little rebuild work.
In July 2020, I installed new Front Struts (Monroe Quick Struts) and Moog Sway Bar & Control Arm Bushings. Thinking Monroe was of quality, I very quickly found out the struts must have been defective in some way, as the pre-mounted Quick spring and/or strut mount began to make odd noises over potholes. I lived with it. As it continued to get more and more noticeable, I decided it's time to take action.
Now, I'm going all-in on a rebuild which will resolve some other upcoming issues all at once, since the disassembly will be all around this region.
Here's a list of what I'm putting on:

- KYB 349043 Shocks (Pair)
- MOOG K750012 Stabilizer Bar Link
- KYB SR4057 Strut
- KYB SR4056 Strut
- KEYOOG 513206 Front Wheel Hub w/Speed Sensor (Pair)
- ACDelco Gold 18A2413 Front Rotors (Pair)

How does this seem to look to everyone? Has everyone replaced their hardware after 130k Miles? That's where I'm at. It still had all original parts, so I guess it's not too bad. Though rough roads contribute to earlier replacement.

I replaced the Moog K750012 links with Delphi TC6379 links , and Moog ball joints K80567 with Delphi TC5580.
my front end clunk went silent! That was last August and still silence!
Other parts you should inspect are the upper engine mount, just look into the slot in the passenger side front fender, is the bolt head in the centre of the hole?
the swaybar bushings, are they good still?
the LCA’s rear bushings, Moog 201285?
now about those quick struts, are you transferring the upper coil spring plates and strut mounts to the KYB struts?

Can’t argue with the KYB stuff. Check your sway bar bushings.

The Monroe OE spectrum (panted black) struts are OK. The blue Monroe Matic I stay away from.

Could it be that some nuts and/or bolts have come loose?

these are great suggestions.. I think you actually gave me the suggestion to check that hole and yes, it’s perfectly centered. In late 2020, I replaced the swaybar bushings and the control arm bushings with all Moog parts, possibly to your suggestions as well. Yes these are quick struts with the springs. However, could you help me understand the last bit? Upper coil spring plates and mounts? I was assuming these are already part of the new assembly no? Is this something I need to purchase in addition to? This is very helpful, because I did not know it’s not included.

thats a scary thought. Though I just recently went to Goodyear and they did a suspension inspection, but doesn’t mean they actually checked the bolts.

Thanks!!… I wish I would have known that before. I literally got the Monroe Matic. They seem to have less than perfect pothole response.

The Monroe quick struts made noise because of a design fault in the original issue, that was corrected. The only way to tell which model you get is by a "**" or "##" after the part number on the box. I suspect that the supplies in Hawai'i are old stock.
My experience with "suspension inspection" is dismal. They usually ignore the LCA bushings and never check bolts and nuts.
If a shop replaced your LCAs it is doubtful that they torqued the bolts properly. I have never seen a torque wrench in a shop, except for the "show" they put on in some tire shops. And then they check that the nuts are "at least" tightened to spec. Air impacts guns and torque sticks are not reliable.

That famous photo of me holding a LCA rear bushing in two pieces, was after my former front end guy told me it just noisy because I had lowering springs installed. The springs were 3 years old and the bushings were 2 years old. When questioned, he admitted he didn’t think to inspect the bushings because they are hidden in that frame pocket.

wow that’s frustrating to say the least. I’ll speak with them directly and see if they have checked and double checked all the bolts. That’s a good idea. I’m also guessing that there was some sort of defect in the struts. It really sounds like it’s coming from the tower.
