2008 HHR LT 2. From what i can find & read on here & measured, my LT 2 came with 10.827 dia. rotors. I have read that the SS models came with standard 11.7 dia. rotors, & the Brambo equipped SS models came with 12.?
So will the larger 11.7 rotors bolt on i have slotted & drilled versions? I have found i need the bigger caliber mounts brackets, - ordered. Will this set up then fit & work ? It has 17" rims
I live in the mountains of Ca. and going to town i drop 3000'. I'm tired of turning the rotors.
I have had many GM's & the their rotors warping is a pain. Least car to warp the rotors was a Corvette.
I own 2 1 ton GM vans with humungous rotors, I bought the 1 ton versions just for the bigger rotors, they warp less.
Thanks for any information. Yosemite Sam

2008 2LT Panel here, I already have the SS rotors on mine..(came that way).. And have the 17" polished oem mags. No problems..
You just need the correct caliper brackets for the matching rotors.
Not sure the Brembos will fit under a 17" rim tho ?
PS: Don't forget to keep the rear drum brakes adjusted properly. The self adjusters don't always work very well, if at all..

Using engine braking is what really helped me. I had the rotors turned twice the first year of ownership. After that I started shifting into "I" regularly, havent had to turn the rotors since, and Im only now needing to replace the factory originals at 120000km (75000 miles). I havent measured them, they still look ok, but Im changing the pads so I figure the rotors should go too.
Breaking.
Thank you guys for the reply's. I did read deeper into this site and found more about "HHR brakes" But it makes me feel better hearing somebody did the 11.7 rotor deal from 10.827 and it works. I did know about down shifting [out of overdrive] in my case. Thank you again. Awaiting my larger brackets - tap - tap- tap LOL. You are using the original calipers correct ?
I have had allot of nice cars in my day, but really do like my HHR, Some days i look on car-trader for a low mileage 2011 LT 2's but am picky about color and esp. interior color. And i don't know if i would keep my 2008 in my garage on jacks, would hate to see it go.
Can somebody tell me how the engine etc. compares from 2008 to 2011 ?

I have the bigger ones on the panel, still need to use I, or they get wimpy fast down a pass. My SS came with the same brakes, I found the Brembo upgrade to solve all the brake issues, absolutely.
3000 ft down daily is a lot of braking.

Sam- Yes oem calipers... (Also good time to paint the brake parts)..

I had the same problem with my HHR with the rotors warping, I went with the brembo 12.4 inch rotor and calipers. I have had these rotors on for at least 20k miles and no warping and the pads are in great shape. In the brembo swap there is no need for brackets but you would need to buy the Brembo calipers. here is my link to the swap and others that have done it. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/brakes-%7C-suspension-%7C-shocks-%7C-struts-24/brembos-up-front-disc-rear-06-2lt-41839/ I am using stock 17 inch wheels with spacers, plenty of clearance.
