Brake upgrade Questions.
Waiting ----
I do appreciate the comments to guide me ! Got a pair of slotted drilled 11.7 " rotors, < $20.00 each new, hope they are not junk. new better pads came in , now waiting for the bigger brackets.
My living up at 3500' keeps me about 7 deg. cooler in the summers & gives me a little snow in the winters, Happy camper. My nearest "city" is @ 20' elevation. You know our Ca. 110 deg. temp's come with a dryness.LOL I have lived east of the Rockies do know the difference.

Great improvement !
Guys ; got the 10" rotors off & the 11" SS non Brembo rotors on, deeper brackets, new pads. When first bedding in the changes, the new front brakes were making all kinds off goofy sounds, i attributed that to the new slotted & drilled rotors [E-Bay $20.00]. Now i have quite, smooth, strong braking, and am a very happy camper.
Thanks for the help all.
Thanks for the help all.
I did this swap last week and the stopping power is greatly improved. I also had some noises that were a squeaking sound. I took a look today and the rotors need to be shimmed out .060" to center the rotor in the slot of the caliper bracket. The brake pad hardware that the pad sits in was touching the rotor and it sounded just like a wear sensor, light squeak. The rotor was also lightly touching the caliper mounting bracket. It was worse on the passenger side than the driver side, just a light touch. I was thinking that an easy way to do that is to put another rotor dust shield on between the hub bearing and the knuckle. The shield is .060"thick and I will trim off the bracket were it is bigger than the hub. I checked the GM parts book and the shields are $7.30 each. The brake hardware is stainless and was rubbing a groove into my rotor. Modifying the 2nd set of brake shields seems to be the easiest way I can think of to space the rotor out .060". I am going to call my buddy at the dealer Monday and have him find me some shields.

Is this a normal happening to do an upgrade? What would cause this fitment problem to occur. I am on the fence as to what upgrade I want to go with on the brakes. I am looking at treated rotors in the stock size with upgraded pads, or go from the stock 10.8 to 11.7 rotors with the pads, or to the brembo set up if I can find it and it is cost effective. I would like to know if the issues experienced are common and/or if there is a away to avoid it.
I am sure there are production tolerance diffirences in every car. In my car it was a little to close and the shim were just barely touching. I decided to make some shims to fit between the bearing and the rotor. I was thinking that if I tried to remove the bearing, as I have in other cars, the bearing might come apart and I would have to buy new bearings. I got the dimensions for the shim and a friend cut some out for me. The brakes work great. The rotors might be just a bolt on for some but I was not comfortable with the distances on my car.
