I did have one question about your 'vette. My parents have a '95 coupe and I think the brake booster may be going out. It takes a lot of pedal effort, sometimes two feet, to get the car to stop. Thoughts?
loss of vacuum to booster or failed booster...ive heard sometimes the brakes on the corvette when pressed feel "normal" but takes like megaforce to get it to stop..im sure thats what i would be
id check it, better safe then sorry

and thanks about the info about the brakes, everyone..i think ill just keep the stock types but get the ones that are about $35 or so

While I'll agree with the sound basis for this opinion, not all "performance brakes" require substantial heat to work well. In fact some can be far superior to stock in low temp applications but lacking when too hot. Sadly most afermarket pads do not give you enough data to learn this without trial and error.

Pads such as Poly D here are way more serious a low temp pad than you'd get from an oem application and thus are great for autcross for example.
