brakes & shocks

I have a 2008 LT2 panel automatic with every option that was available. I use it for business and it has 135,000 miles on it. I live in the north ga mountains and love the vehicle. It handles ok not like my sports car. But the brakes are very weak, and they shudder easily. The rotors have been replaced twice as well as the pads. The shocks were replaced with upgraded KYB. It sounds like I drive like a maniac but I am only on my second set of tires.

Any suggestions.

Adjust the rear brakes....... self adjusters seem to not work on many of these.

X 2. Check and adjust the rears, if they aren't doing their fair share the fronts take a beating and wear out prematurely.

I agree about the rear brakes. Often neglected.
With the drums off is a good time to spray off the brake dust (& not breathe it). You could even use a spray water bottle. Water will wash off brake dust, & you can help with a paint brush (as needed)..Put a catch-pan underneath tho..It'll be black coming off..

After cleaning I put a very slight bit of grease on the backing plates (look for 4 contact points), & will prevent brake/backing plate squeak. This can be done easily with shoes in place, just gently pry shoes up a bit. Wipe a tiny dab of hi-temp grease using something like a 'feeler guage' as an applicator or similar.

I adjust em up till a very light sprag is heard, then back em off 1 click, or no sprag is heard.
