You got it.. Ricardo Montalban and all! Not a bad looking car overall though. It was the era of Novas afterall so it had good company. This is not mine. Just a stock photo I found. Mine was metallic black with big ole Cragar SS/Ts on it by the time I was done.

My uncle had one, ordered it in 75, so he got one of the first ones off the line.

For years we joked that he was the only person to buy a Volare on purpose.

That still stands true. This is not the car I wanted. I had found a 73 Blazer that was all jacked up and had a soft top. But my parents said no and this is what I got. I replaced the engine and trans, repainted it, and put a huge set of tires on it. By the time I was done with it I loved it. To tie all of this nostalgia back into the original idea of the thread... I did not cut the springs. I had to raise it up to clear the big tires so I did what all good southern boys did back then. Air shocks! Funny how we went from raising things up to lowering them down, isn't it?

Wow what an old bunch of crows!

SSERIOUSly though-

OMG I cut my springs tonight! and NothinG happened, except of course the car is now lower.

for the first response saying "no way because the spring gets smaller at the cup" guess what

.. The spring is still sitting pretty in the cup and still wrapped snug around the center post. I do realize that cutting one end of a progressive spring could possibily make handle it little different but i did leave some of the tapered coil and thought it rode a bit rough in stock form so no loss i hope.

cost $0
ride quality~ tbd

thanks that is all
