I think that is why some have front brake problems..
It can happen where the valve fails but it is rare and often the front brake issues are several other problems that people never fully address. This is why they keep having the same issues over and over. Brakes are not as simple as some would like to make them out to be.

Brakes are an issue that everyone thinks they understand but too often a little knowledge is a dangeous thing.

You will find that over used front brakes are often a failure of the rear system like hung claiper. In the 90's GM had many issues on the W bodys in the northern states where they calipers froze up and did little braking. The pins would not let the caliper slide.

Car companies spend a lot of money on setting up brakes systems and balance and few regular people can really hit the right balance. The rear brakes really do very little work. If you note on most cars the rear disc pads are only 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the front. Many would be shocked at how small they really are. Large rear brakes like on the ZR1 are rare in the real world.

I would really hesitate to recomend anyone to mess with balance unless they really know what they are doing. I mean really know.

I have had to fix some really screwed up messes from people that got in over the heads and had no clue till it was too late.

You mess with a system with stability control today it could be real trouble.

We've had this conversation before..

And if a vehicle has likely never been backed up & hit the brakes to 'self adjust'. They can get really off. So I properly adjust them.. & then the balance is restored..

You are not the only one that has fixed others screw ups..

I think you misunderstood what I ment of I did not make it clear.

I have issue with adjusting the rear brakes. This does happen often just as the e brake not being used on rear disc creates a low pedal.

I guess I should have quoted the statment before yours that brought the whole proportioning valve up.

My bad.

I just don't want to see someone here mess with the valve unless there is something wrong with it. Generally the issues is like you stated the adjustment of the shoes on drum.
