I too didn't think it possible for the guy at Oreilly's to turn it out of spec either especially given that the guy wasn't new at this. That's why I took it to the dealer after I had them turned. anyway, all is smooth for now and hopefully it will stay that way.

I think that I am along with the idea of not turning rotors. Its probably not worth the hassle. The new NAPA Ultra Premiums, which are rebranded Raybestos Advanced Tech rotors, are at .001" out of the box.

I don't know how a tech could be so incompetent as to turn a rotor "out of spec". I did know that it is possible!
I melt it down and make modern pagen sculptures and sell them to tribal villages on the Amazon through Amazon.com.

I give them to my buddy to take with the rotors from his shop when he scraps them out.

It is not techs but guys at parts stores that generally can screw them up. It does no happen often but you get someone with no clue on how to chuck them up right or how to cut them properly.

I do my own brakes and have to relay on parts stores to cut them since I no longer have a lathe at my disposal. Also the main reason I stop cutting is I can buy new Bendix rotors for $17 Front and $14 Rear thought work so why cut them thinner when they are that cheap.

Where you work and who you know sometimes has it's perks.

Even at retail the price on these are not crazy priced. They are no where near the price of the drilled or dimpled rotors so it makes it an easy thing to just replace them.
