Gold Line ride height?

I mentioned recently that I took the coilovers off of my wife's HHR and put my 1st Gen Gold Lines on instead. It still seems to me that the ride height of the car is not like other 1st Gen riders I have seen. It is not that I mind the race car rake of it. I just wonder why ours seems to sit higher in the rear than others running 1st Gens.

not on topic at all, but how do you like those rims? Those were the exact ones i was looking at and it was good to see it on another black hhr. Where did you get them and how much if you don't mind me asking? Are they 18's? PM me if you want to take it out of this thread. Thanks

No, that's fine. I don't mind posting it up here... I have bragged on the rims here before.

I bought these after I kept having trouble with cracking the Moon Eye covers we had. I got them from 'nateswheels' on eBay. The price was $900 shipped to my door. That included wheels, tires, tuner lugs, and I ordered the optional concentric rings to match the hub to the center of the wheel.

The wheels are 18x8.5 with a 38mm offset. I love the extra lip that the offset causes. It really makes them look meaty beneath the fenders. The tires are 225/40/18s.

The only thing I wanted to do differently was to put 18s in the front and 19s in the rear with bigger tires. Nate's doesn't offer that. They only offer matched sets. I guess it is better anyway because I can still rotate the tires, but I do like the staggered look.

Here is a current auction that they have up now for the same set.

Thanks for the info, same place I was looking at them. I just wish it wasn't $200 for the shipping... $900 is still a good price for nice rims and wheels, but the actual price of $700 would be a ton better.

How's the ride on them. I'm guessing in California you don't really encounter a lot of snow? That's one of my concerns, and I don't really want to have 2 sets for the different seasons if i can avoid it.

Are you sure that they are the 1 gen? Going back through some really old posts I found this dated 7/23/06.......

If this is the set you have, it may be that they are the 2nd gen springs. It was shortly after this date that I had ordered the springs from SoCal, and they were the 2nd gen.

Well, the first post you quoted was just a couple of weeks ago. That was my first mention of the fact that I felt like we sat higher than other people with 1Gs when it should have been the same.

It could be that they are 2Gs. At the time I ordered them, I had never heard of any generations. There were just GoldLine springs. Were later generations lower or higher than first Gens?

Well, I guess that is the answer then. I don't mind the way it sits. Like I said, it gives it a race car rake. I was just expecting it to be lower.

Given that information - Does anyone know why they changed the GoldLines from the lower Gen 1s to the higher Gen IIs?

With the Gen 2 & 3, they perfected it! I have first generation and I do scrape if not careful.

I don't scrape much yet but I do bottom out in the front. Especially on that roller coaster we call the Grapevine!

On the day we installed the springs, I used my buddy's lift at his shop. We had to get boards so I could back out because the lift was too tall even when it was all the way down.
