gold-line? Wheels?

Looking for a little advise. Was reading an old thread that showed the rear springs which even out our hhr. I would really rather get the 1.75"F and 2.125"R lowering springs instead. My question is what would better suit me with the location I live in? Eastern KY has a lot of hills and we do get some snow in the winter months. Also I have been really interested in picking up a set of Pontiac Soltice rims. How will they fit with this type of lowering and one last question. Do these wheels come with the air gauge sensor since they are GM factory wheels?

Thanks!

John

The solstice fitment is a non issue. They will work. There are also several aftermarket wheels out now in the 5x110mm bolt pattern we need with the 42mm backspace. The sensors will be of no use as they are to be discarded after each tire change. They will work in any aftermarket or factory rim. You just need to find a tire shop that carries them. For a guide type in your vehicle on this website.http://www.discounttiredirect.com It will show the tire series with the larger rims each time they get bigger the series drops, ie from 50 to 45 to 40 for 17, 18 and 19". The height of the tire stays the same. I have seen 20" wheels with the gold-line springs. Personally I have 17x7 wheels and 205 50 series tires, no problems. 16" 55 series, 18" 45 series, 19" 40 series and 20" 35 series all in 205 width would all give the same height and not effect the speedometer.

Whee! Goldlines ordered!

Thanks for the info Bug. Guess I will just have to watch where I drive because the roads around here really have been turning bad. Even I64 in eastern KY is full of potholes. It's bound to be worth it though!

There are a whole lot of potholes here as well. I really haven't had a problem anywhere, even on rail road crossings.
Watch for the concrete markers in parking spaces. Before the air dam scrubs, after it looks like it will knock it off so don't pull up all the way. You will not believe the difference in handling they will make. They create a lot of grins for the driver.

HaHa funny story on that one. 9 Years ago I bought a 2000 s10 xtreme and low and behold I found out fairly quick about those pesky concrete markers.

I installed the Goldline springs you mentioned when I had less than 40 miles on my SS HHR. I also install 19" corvette wheels on the rear at the same time. As long as you keep the OD of the tires the same you shouldn't experience any problems. My car has traction control so it is very critical to keep the OD of the tires the same front to rear.

Air sensors are good until the batteries wear down. The only thing one needs to be concerned with is the o ring, valve core and cap that comes in a package that is recommended for replacement whenever it gets distrubed. Such as changing wheels. The air sensors will work over and over again. From time to time you may need to re-learn their new location if the tire/wheel assemblies were to be rotated. Even that isn't always necessary.
