i also installed a set of goldline lowering springs..came in box with plasic bag over each spring with no instructions[not a big deal]BUT i also have the same noise everyone else has.i noticed when i had TWISTED [my hhr name by the way]putting my lakes side pipes on i seen where the bottom 2 or 3 coils are touching each other..poor design.guess we live with noise or raise hhr back up again..no way i'm going back up after seeing it lowered.LOOKS TO SWEET LOWERED.

Did you get the Leveling Springs or the full Lowering Springs?
Also do you have a 2.2 or 2.4 HHR?

This thread is for those that have gotten the leveling kit. I.E. Rear springs only.

i was only making a statment that the goldline springs makes the noise and that it doesn't only pertain to the rear leveling springs. the complete kit also does it so goldline had this noise before they came out with the levering kit.

UPDATE: 5-29-07 10:45am -

I just got off the phone with Craig at Gold-Line. Even though we're closed and I'm no longer a dealer, I'm still trying to help him out with this "problem." Gold-Line is a top-notch operation and Craig is a real stand-up guy. I've worked with many suspension companies and Craig went through more prototyping than anyone I've ever worked with. He really wants to bring just the "right" product to market.

First, let me say that I have run these springs for several months with no noise issues whatsoever. Those of you who know me, know what an aggressive driver I am as well. No noise - no creaks - no problems.

Karen emailed me a few weeks ago about the problem, and I told her that basically unless I could actually SEE the spring stack, there is no way to tell what could be causing the problem. If anyone can crawl under their HHR and get some pics like this:

We might be able to help. The springs need to be "loaded" with their normal weight.

After talking with Craig this a.m., we are now guessing that the bump stops may need to be trimmed. *HHR1 was lowered long ago, so my stops have always been trimmed - and I have also had no noise problems running these springs. It's worth a try anyway.

If you have the ability, pull the springs and trim the bumpstops, cutting off the entire "knob" from the stop. there is a groove just under the knob (*I think Sindy has a piture hosted somewhere from Mr. Bumpstops. Parhaps she'll jump in.)- that's where to cut it. Re-install the springs and see what you get.

ALSO - make SURE your springs are fully seated top and bottom. Failure to do so may cause the springs to shift sideways as you drop the jack, which can cause spring binding and noise.

I hope this helps get you guys & gals "quietly" back on the road.

I know, I just got my new camera in the other day, and the first shop,,,,next shop was a custom shop to do graphics, they have yet to call with the graphics,,,,so next shop will see them tomorrow afternoon.
Now as far as Bumpstops, I have no tip/point, that is all gone. I will try to crawl under the car for the pics,,I still have not learned this camera, but will try.
Thanks for your help and all of those who are helping on this noisey matter.
