Inspect my brakes please....

How much of my pad has been used or is remaining. I am guessing 50% but cant be sure. My rotor(s) are warped pretty bad and the dealer said they would repair under warranty as long as my pads weren't worn out. Taking it to the dealer on friday. Anyway how much as been used based on this sorry picture.

Thanks.

% wise, can't say. But looks like there is still plenty of material there.

Only way you can tell accurately is by getting a brake lining gauge and seeing how much is left versus what the specs are new.

It's hard to tell, but looks like plenty of pad still there and no scoring so they should replace the rotors and pads under warranty.

eyeballing it, I'd say 50-70% remaining.
I just checked mine before an inspection, and noticed that the inner pad was almost half as worn compared to the outer pad. (They still passed though.)
You might want to check the inner pads as well...

Brakes

I don't care how good or bad your pads are.... I just want the government to force a recall on the HHR and figure out why soooo many people are having warped rotors. I am getting ready to replace mine for a third time. I have 60,000 miles and all Chevy can say is I must not be driving the right way. I guess in their minds you should not use your brakes. The last time I replaced the rotors, I bought a set of upgraded form the OEM set. There is something wrong with the front end design that is causing this. We must all complain to the NTSA and get something done about this. They know they have a problem but will not admit it.

I still have the original brakes on my 06 HHR after 57K miles. I keep reading of all the problems owners seem to have with the rotor warpage. My HHR doesn't have ABS or tyrtaction control and I'm curious if ABS may be the problem or is it the driving technique?

How many non ABS HHRs have this problem vs how many ABS HHRs have the problem?

Maybe....just maybe, they are a bit hard on them, may not even realise it. Heat them up too fast and they will go south on ya.....though, poor quality metal will really show this trend.....

I'm not gonna judge this particular problem but after many years of watching people's driving habits it's a wonder the brakes aren't overhauled every couple of months!

You can have 3 people eyeball your pads and each one will give you there best percentage left estimate. The only true way is to measure. Anything under 3MM is ready for a brake job.
