I got a lot of hits on eBay "hhr ss steering knuckle". Some might even really be for SS. Brand new seems to be readily available, probably because everybody thinks LS/LT ball joints fit, then they break the knuckle trying to tighten it.

You might try asking an insurance adjuster. Many large auto body shops have them in their office. Otherwise, a phonebook and a couple of hours calling, or carparts.com.

Be careful, many of them say "fits SS" then in the fitment chart it says "fits all". As you already know that is not true.

Matthew, that part number doesn't return any search results.

I gave you the part numbers, I don't know where you came up with this number.

25923941 is the part you’re in search of!

Superceeded to another number!

The right side knuckle is discontinued!

Matthew, Oldblue has confirmed my suspicion. You see #11 and #12, this is the pinch bolt and nut. There are no threads to strip in the hole in the knuckle. So you really shouldn't need a new knuckle for that reason.

However, if the incorrect control arm/ball joint had been installed (with the smaller stub on the ball joint), then the knuckle may have cracked trying to close the larger hole around the smaller stub. In this case, you would need a new knuckle.

The bolt is part number 11518632
The nut is part number 11517996

So, sounds like somebody replaced the LCA with a "fits all" part leaving play in the ball joint connection. Seems to be a case of refusal to believe experience.

PARTS BOOKS ARE WRONG !!!!!!!!!! HHR SS has different front end parts from LT/LS. Do not install any LCA , steering knuckle or ball joint that claims to fit LT/LS/SS.
Even some Chevy dealers use erroneous parts books.

If the knuckle is not cracked from an undersized ball joint but the hole is just wallowed out (how did I know?), and you can’t find a replacement, maybe it can be salvaged. You could get someone to weld in some aluminum and then ream the hole out to the correct diameter. (Weld the slit closed and cut it back open after reaming.) Alignment isn’t critical because, well, it’s a ball joint.
