Performance Brake options

I know its been talked about many times on here but its been a while since I had to worry about it so I want to start fresh with a new thread.

I have had a set of EBC Slotted and Dimpled rotors along with the Red Stuff pads for about 4 years or so and absolutely loved them.

My wife tells me the other day that the brakes are making a noise almost like grinding. Now she is on top of stuff like this and knows enough to know when something is due for service before it ruins other items. Well usually. I drove it today and its bad, inside of rotor chewed up pretty good. You can hear it knocking every time the pad hits the groove. I drive it from time to time and I didn't notice it was getting close either so its not her fault.

So my questions is...what options are available lately for performance stopping power. I will most likely go back to the same EBC I have now since I really had no issues at all. I know some people will say just get a good branded standard rotor, but I have to be a bit flashy and need the slotted and dimpled, I am staying away from the drilled cause of cracking issues.

I had purchased my current EBCs from ebay in a package deal but dont see a pads and rotors auction from them anymore.

Has anyone else found a quality set of DIMPLED and Slotted/Grooved pads and rotors.

Thanks all.

I've decided to go with a set of ATE PremiumOne rotors and Hawk Performance Ceramic brakes pads. The combination seems to work quite well based on what I have read from folks who have used this set up on various VW, Mazda and Subaru vehicles.

The ATE rotors are not dimpled nor slotted but they do have two elliptical grooves which provide an interesting look. The grooves help vent some gas but I believe they are mostly cosmetic and are supposed to be used as a rotor wear indicator.

In any case those parts cost me $183 from TireRack.

Slotted are prone to cracking as well, but that is a different thread. I won't make a comment on the rotors so this thread stays on path. So pads, I have only used 4 kinds of pads.

1) Performance-Cannot beat a set of Hawk pads IMO.
2) Stock-Stock GM pads dust like crazy but ZERO noise issues
3) Wagners-JUNK, that is based off more than one set
3) Wearever's-just got them recently, no complaints as of yet.

Thanks for the info, I havent heard of Hawk ( I guess Ive been living under a rock because everyone else seems to know about them).

I run pretty hard on my brakes, with going over CA-32 from Chester Ca to Chico, Ca at least once a month. Its about 60 miles of nothing but 25 to 35 mile per hour turns back to back, baqsically a sports cars wet dream and a brake pad/rotors nightmare. I just turned my EBCs and there was no warpage what so ever and I fly over that highway and am at full braking alot before those turns.

I will check out tirerack, in the meantime anybody have any other opinions to add?

Yes, check the rear brakes for proper adjustment. The self-adjusters do not always work correctly imo..
