Powell YYZ V2 springs with be out in several weeks, they bind....and they will be warrantied for LIFE, only discrepancy is one owner/one vehicle only.

Dead coils are dead in order to prevent the springs from falling out of place when load is removed. Ie on a hard left turn the driver side springs may unload a little. This is the best way I can think to explain the dead coils. Also if you look under a car with any other lowering springs with you'll notice there's a few dead coils.

they are awsome coils, to be considered in every way. I have choosen Canucks they don't bind or rub each other and they handle well and the price was amazing

Mine is on the ground. Full body weight on the springs. And yes, those are the redesigned Pedders. Notice that these springs have 1 less coil wrap than the originals.

About your picture. Noticed that those "dead coils" are on top. In the video earlier in this thread, they were mounted on the bottom.
