Old Pedders had dead coils and were progressive rate. New ones aren't progressive?

Honestly, I don't recall my old Pedders having dead coils. When the clunking started after installation, I had looked at them numerous times trying to figure it out. I do know the coil clearance looked very close. I think dead coils would have caught my eye.
Heres a picture of the old Pedders that shows that most of the coils were rubbing together.

I don't think there were as many as sportlines or some of the other lower springs but I think there was a couple.

Sportlines have dead coils with body weight on them, but they are rubber covered ..the new Pedders look better.

I may be interested in a set of these as they seem to offer performance similar to or better than Pedders, but do not drop the car so much. Living where I live I cannot afford to lower the car much more than it is right now. I already scrub over the slightest speed bumps, even when taking them at an angle.

Them must be some speed bumps, if you are rubbing with stock suspension.

I drove all over some speed bumps today, with four people in it, didn't even think of rubbing anything, and I have the molded flaps too. I'm setting a little lower than stock.
