Powell Racing YYZ V.5 Lowering Springs - Install/Review

Figured I would start up a new thread on the install.

I ordered up the Powell Racing YYZ V.5 springs and they just arrived today. I Stopped by the parts store and picked up some spring compressors and a pair of mechanic gloves. I will be doing the install and reviewing them tomorrow.

Currently my 09 SS is running the Cobalt B&G Springs. While I love the stance and overall lowness the ride is very harsh and bouncy. My SS has about 63K miles on it now and I have had the B&G's on the car for about 8K miles now. They work and fit great and don't clunk around to much but I am so ready for a nicer ride. I also replaced my Factory Struts with new ones along with KYB rear shocks with new top mounts etc. So all those parts a pretty much new FE5 suspension.

Once it warms up a bit in the morning I plan on getting started and I will post more pics.

They came shipped from Crate Engine Depot

Packed nice and secure

The Springs, They are kind a blueish/gray color

Pic of the Logo

There's no instructions included and the rear springs have more coils one side with both having a pigtail on the end, I'm assuming the logo goes up which would put the side with more coils at the bottom.

More pics to come tomorrow!

HF has those head band LED lights to keep your hand free! Take a minute and measure from ground to fender lip before and after to see how they effect your ride height!

Alright the YYZ V.5's are in and everything is back together. First Impressions on a quick ride out is fantastic. Their not bouncy and seem to handle really well. Definitely feels like a whole other car now compared to the B&G's And I can see why as well. The size difference was shocking, especially on the rears.

Rear Spring Comparison (Red = B&G, Blue = YYZ V.5)

Front Spring Comparison (Red = B&G, Blue = YYZ V.5)

I didn't have very many pics in stock form but heres one I did have from last year,

OEM Springs

B&G Springs

YYZ V.5

The rear does sit a tad higher which I thought was corrected in the later versions of the YYZ's but it may need a little more time to settle

Here is a shot of the rear springs with the car weight down on it.

Also here are the measurements compared to the B&G's

Measured from center of the wheel (Ground to Fender)

Front B&G's - 25 1/4"
Front YYZ - 26"

Rear B&G's - 25 3/4"
Rear YYZ - 27"

so not so low, and I see coil bind on those three lower coils! Any thumping noise going over small bumps or road bumps?
