Powell Racing YYZ V.5 Lowering Springs - Install/Review
#11
On my initial test run out I heard no noise and I intentionally hit some bumps/manhole covers etc. Also went over a couple bridges that were known to make the B&G's bounce and I'm happy to say it rides smooth now.
When I go back to work tomorrow I'll be taking it out on the interstate which will be a good test. Our roads suck around here.

not sure if you get snow in your area..but I would spray the springs with grease , especially with the "Dead" coils. I remember Powell saying they are not "binding" but are considered " dead" coils. And wont clunk on bad roads. The reason for the rear end being higher is the proper height for FWD cars. Give it some time and it may go down another .5 maybe with the added weight the HHR has over the Cobalt. Plus these springs are Progressive springs so the more tension on the coils the stronger/stiffer the springs will be which wont allow clunk and will handle amazing
You should enjoy them, ive only heard good things about these. Im thinking of getting some too

I'm also running the B&G springs, sport/race combo, and I agree with the OP they do bounce. Stiff and not very progressive. They are pretty much the lowest springs you can get if that matters more to you.
Powell designs his more for performance than appearance, being slightly higher in the rear helps cornering and front to back weight transfer.

@skyline, Thanks! Yeah i'm not worried about the coils being stacked. The real test will be tomorrow commute to work :) If we ever get snow its like 1 day a year if even that lol.
I got the lugs from Partstrain - PartsTrain.com - Hard to Find Auto Parts and Truck Parts -
@prod, Yeah I loved the look of the B&G's but for a daily driver it was just too much over time with our roads. I wanted something still low but gave a better ride. My Job is going to be sending me to Atlanta here soon so that's 2 hours drive time each way when I get up and back so I thought it was time for something a little better riding even if its not as low.
I need new tires so I was thinking about getting a little beefier tire this time around as well which should help with the ride.

The morning commute went great this morning. No clunks or noises.
The SS rode great and was very little bounce and even then it was only on the really bad sections. Under normal driving conditions it's very firm and feels like a whole new car
