Reuse of bumpstops with Cobalt SS coils

I'm going to install 09 Cobalt SS springs on rear of my 09 LS, (78 bucks shipped from GMPD) I'm just looking to level the stance. I did a search of previous threads but couldnt find answer. For you guys that have gone this route, can you reuse the bumpstops as is or do they need to be cut down?

I used GoldLine springs, as I remember, they were 2 1/8" lower in the rear, and 1 3/4" lower in the front. Their instructions were to cut the bumpstops 1" shorter... FWIW...

Just put Cobalt SS/SC springs in my 06 LT and reused the original bump stops with NO trimming. Not necessary.
Hope this helps.

Thumbs up

frank6060-

I've been using the 09 cobalt SS/TC rear springs, for approx 1000 miles or so. Love 'em..

They lowered the rear of my Panel 1" Leveling it just right...

Yes re-use the HHR OE bumpstops, they do NOT need cut, & I haul heavy stuff fairly often & have never bottomed out..

FYI: Clean the spring pockets out well of the road grit, when the OE springs are out..

Leave the Part # tags on them & your warranty should still be fine, according to my local Chevy Dealer..

Price went up a bit, I paid $74 to my door from same place..

Thanks guys and Sleeper. Maintaining my warranty has been my other concern as I continue to break my promise to "dont do anything to our brand new HHR"! Oh well, I had running boards installed 2 weeks ago and she hasn't noticed, so sneaking the springs in should be easy..

Frank- Yes I understand, I'm trying to keep my warranty intact as well..

& as far as my wife, she gave up years ago trying to stop me from doing mods..

I don't think your Lady will notice either.. But I do think you will be pleased with the better handling & looks..

After 27 yrs. mine knows better too. As we stepped out into 5 degrees this morning I reminded her what a great idea I had installing the factory remote start. Gotta get my points when I can..
