Spongy brakes

Okay so after replacing the rear brakes I have still spongy brakes

Okay!!! Maybe with a bit more info someone here might be able to offer some advice, other than "well, you need to bleed the brakes".

But one would assume that you have already done that, so more info would be appreciated.

Help rear brakes replaced now brake pedal is spongy

Replaced the rear brakes on my 2006 the now the brakes are spongy and go to the floor if I press on them we have bled them all around and they are still doing this. HELP

Does your HHR have ABS brakes ? And your post says " so after replacing the rear brakes I have still spongy brakes".

Which sounds like you had spongy brakes prior to brake shoe replacement. Which generally replacing brake shoes does NOT require brake bleeding.

Bleeding the brakes can be tricky. You must have a long tube leading back to the reservoir and keep pressing the pedal until all the air bubbles are out of the line, or have three people; someone keep adding fluid while one is pressing the pedal and the other is collecting the fluid.

That is assuming you replaced the calipers and not just the pads.

I would double check that you bled the brakes correctly.

Probably a bad master cylinder. Maybe the rears did not get adjusted correctly, maybe they were not bled correctly.
