thinking of putting a motor in the truck to tow is that to much weight?

I carried a 2.8L V6 including its t125 auto in the back of my HHR. We had an engine hoist to get it into the back.. Barely enough room to get it in. Then we had to walk the engine fully in. The plywood support is a good idea as the engine mounting bolts did punch a hole in the plastic floor. It also sagged a bit but that did come back.

I drove the engine about 130 miles from Orlando to Lehigh Acres Florida. No issues with the HHR and it's carrying ability. It didn't drop my mpg average about 3 mpg.

im going for the engine again this time with the hhr i hope everything goes well lol.im just gonna throw some tires in the rear and sit the engine on that ifi can find some wood ill use that as well

I have hauled 1500 lb. on the highway with no problem except sway.
