2011 2LT with 135,000 miles. Struts are making noise so time to replace and shocks as well. I have been researching the net for options and like the stock equipment but not the prices. I can do all the work myself but don’t like messing with swapping out the springs so looking for a decent all in one strut kit. Have seen options for strut assemblies with all hardware and comes with shocks as well. Not sure how many more years we will keep the HHR. But don’t want to loose my 2LT ride height and don’t want a horrible/ noisy ride.
What has anyone else tried?

With the KYB’s I used Canuck Motorsports lowering springs, so you could reuse your FE3 springs and keep your ride height and comfort.

That’s another thing. Unless the package is AC Delco then or says FE3 I won’t know if ride height would be the same without old springs. What’s the going rate to remove springs off struts as did it on my other car years ago and not messing with it this time.

I have spring compressors , so it costs me nothing, plus I’m a little more prone to custom installion.



New rear springs. It’s now 1 3/4 lower in the rear and in the front! No more trailer hitch scrape !

Thanks for all the reply’s. What about the shocks, buying some Sachs again which comes on it. AC Delco shocks any good for our rides?

I did springs on my Z28 when I was a kid with autozone rent a tool and it was scary using there junk. If its not to much money to bring someone the struts to swap springs out and reinstall then that will be the route I will probably go. The rest of the work I can do myself.

So no one has tried other brand struts beside Koni, Monroe? GM Parts list the struts are pricey.
