The Gold-Line is too low for me. IIRC spring upgrades usually bring some lowering with them. I'll hold until a pic of a ~1" drop shows up.
Maybe some stiffer shocks....

My HHR's running boards (Dark SIlver Metallic above), sit 5 1/2-inches off the deck. Front air dam just scrapes the tops of parking stops if you're careful. The only time it rubs is going on & off the rack (we have a drive-on alignment rack). Actually, I'm very happy - there is never any real-world driving problems on our streets here. Life is good...

You'd go through all that trouble to drop your HHR one inch?! You'd never notice it. Let some air out of your tires to see what 1 inch is like.

I would not go to that trouble. My thread wasn't about "lowering". It was about getting some of that slush out of the suspension (GOD, WHY DID I SELL THE TOYOTA-LET THE FLAMES BEGIN!).

If I want to lower the car by at least 1", I'll get my brother to sit in it. That's easier than airing the tires back up.

I want a firmer, more responsive suspension without the floorpan dragging the ground. If I succeed without lowering the car one bit, I will be happy.

I would say just put stiffer shocks on then and see how it feels before you touch the springs. Just like you said.

Would that be bad if you did that? Could that effect the car with Stiff shocks?

Just the ride quality. The shocks on my mustang were stiff as hell! Tokico Mach 1 struts and shocks. You could feel everything in the road. But of course the springs were stiffer and also lowered the car. They also came from the Mach 1 setup.
