What is recommended brake pad material

The OE factory pads are much like OE tires and often in some cases they are the lowest bidder on the contract.

On a car like the ZR1 you may get the better tires and great brakes but in a car like the HHR where they are trying to keep the price down items like this often are good enough not the best.

No, my SS is an automatic so same brakes as a regular HHR except for having rear disc brakes.

Factory (non Brembo SS) pads have a high carbon content...I guess plus some other fillers..
