Wheel LUG striped

Changing my Link ends in the front. Striped either the Wheel lug, or bolt putting on the wheels.

What is the procedure for changing out wheel lugs?
thanks in advance.

If you're so inclined the procedure is relatively simple, but first make sure whether its the nut or the stud that's stripped, if its the nut just replace it...if its the stud then read on.

Drive the remains of the broken/stripped stud backwards out of the hub, its held in by a press fit and splines. To install the new stud, you need to use a lug nut to pull it into place as you tighten it with a deep well socket, make sure the stud is full seated before reinstalling the wheel and lug nuts.

Now, this method has some caveats, you can damage the hub bearings if you're too vigorous knocking the broken stud out, or you can warp the hub during the seating process. If in any doubt at all, take it to a tire shop or your dealer and they can press out the stud and install a new one lickety split, it doesn't cost much either.

I agree with 843, I would not hammer out a wheel stud on our type vehicles..

You can use a C-clamp or similar & put a socket on the inside side to allow the stud room to come out. It will only need pushed about 3/8" approx, then it's free.
