Cobalt SS Struts & Shocks in 2006 1LT?

My 2006 1LT, (2.4L 5spd), has 106K & runs like a beast. Control arms, (aluminum), need replacing since the bushings are shot. I plan on keeping this ride & since the control arms need replacing my "master plan" is to upgrade the front suspension and while I'm at it add rear sway bar. Several forum friends recommend Cobalt SS struts, GM#19181251 & GM#19181631 and Cobalt SS shocks GM#22728821 as direct bolt in replacements. Before I buy the Cobalt SS struts & shocks can someone confirm that they will for sure fit in my 2006 1LT? If so I'm thinking I should also get new upper strut mounts, (GM#88964326). I appreciate help on confirming, (or not), the Cobalt SS strut-shock upgrade. Thanks

If they are the same price as the cobalt parts, that would be the way to go. I'm not sure if the difference would even be noticeable (if there is a real difference). Tom at CED would be the one to get part numbers for that stuff.

I just replaced the struts on my 2LT with these- I've had GL springs on there for over a year on the stock struts/shocks. I don't notice much of a difference in "performance"- although the car does feel slightly more planted during spirited corners, the difference is minimal in my opinion.

It does feel better in general just because I've replaced the aging, old struts, but again, I say minimal performance gains- In the end, I say go for it, the price is right at CED-

The hhr ss struts are the best option, but the cobalt ss ones will work too. The cobalt ones were upgraded a bit in 08, so newer is better. I have ones from an 06 and feel a bit more damping over my stock LS suspension. The 2LT should be somewhere in between.
For the control arm bushings, try Powell Race Shop, they sell some that hold up much better.
