Second Gear on Manual

Yes, I'm fine.
It wasn't that hard of a hit.
I think what happened was he hit my front wheel and pushed the car sideways until the inside of the wheel/tire hit the curb and that broke the control arm.
I'm hoping there isn't any damage to the engine cradle or misalignment of the unibody. I'm hoping to buy it back for the salvage value and fix it.

Glad you are OK. Gregg was hit from the back a few years ago, the others persons insurance paid in full for repairs, but the repairs totaled somewhere around 3800 bucks, on an '06 with at the time 180,000+ miles on it. Not to side track but, is another persons insurance able to total out your car if they hit you?

Some states make it a "salvage" title after a total loss, which makes for a bit of a problem reinsuring and reselling, not impossible.
I have had cars "totalled" with just fender damage. Back when you could by a used VW for $300-$500, it cost more to replace and paint a fender.

I found out that NY State doesn't generate a salvage title for vehicles that are over 8 years old. So basically my car stays titled and registered as it has been all along.
That's good news because NY State charges $200 to inspect a salvage-titled vehicle, and the inspections are backlogged about 3 months in my area!
