Question Simple question.

Just got my 06 today, shifting hard joined with a thunk. Fairly sure (80%) needs a full circuit of mounts, engine and trans. Especially at 193k. Question is simply would worn mounts make the shifts feel harder than they actually are? Mid throttle 1 to 2 is at about 3.5k to 4k rpm . Easier I am on the throttle the lighter the thunk. Just want an opinion if that sounds like mostly mounts as unfamiliar with the shift point defaults on the HHR. Thanks in advance for your time.

Mounts will add to that clunk, so will LCA rear bushings.

Here’s some information

The CEL is on, ad claimed it was because the fuel filter was due. Plan to pull coaxes today or tomorrow. Waiting for my new ELM327 to come in that works with my newer iPhone Bluetooth. I don’t know if it lighting up for fuel filter change is a thing on these or not. Had it less then 24 hours as of writing this. Double checking how instinct jives with experience with these. Would have missed the other mentioned. So meh. Lol
i will let you know what codes I see soon as I pull them. Looking for p107xx if there is a trans shifting problem. If I understand what I have read.

Let's wait and see what codes are current. No, there's no code for changing fuel filter.

As donbrew subtly said, some codes will cause the transmission to shift hard, as a wake up call to alert the driver of a problem. I don't think I've ever seen him be so subtle.

A. there is no fuel filter
B. there is no code for fuel filter
C. you don't understand what you are reading. P07xx are indeed transmission related, but not the cause of hard shifting.
D. We need to know which engine you have to help much more.

Good, so you replaced the MAF , or plugged it back in.

Are you still thinking transmission and engine mounts?
Have you inspected the LCA’s rear bushings?
