Omg 7th try to answer

Just plugged in maf,LCA seem good ball joints questionable. Now I just have a random purge code. Just need to figure which valve to replace. Still buying all my motor mounts soon as I can. Thanks for the help. Need to go search the electrical area as I have to questions in that area.. one last thing, 196k having the transmission fluid changed shouldn’t hurt the trans right? Feels like they burnt it some while the maf was disconnected.

LCA rear bushings, may seem good but are dried out and crumbling, these were just a year old and 12,000 miles!
They wanted to do an alignment to fix the clunk!

The one in the right, it’s separated from the metal barrel the bolt goes through

you can change the transmission fluid and filter, it’s an easy job

Thanks for the heads up. I can get full pair LCA cheaper than two ball joints. Now added to the todo list right behind the rotor set I have coming. Thank you. The idea of taking the trans somewhere was because a longtime mechanic friend recommended taking it to a shop. That way if changing the fluid messed it up it was on them. I remember some old GM trans would do that if they hadn’t been properly serviced for too long. But I thought the new sec and trans materials changed that. Only reason I was considering a shop. I am guessing I am right by your response.

Cheaper LCA’s? As in stamped steel LCA’s? Those are for Cobalts and lighter cars, not the HHR, our LCA’s are aluminium and there is a difference that will cause alignment problems with those stamped steel LCA’s.
So choose wisely! Not by price but by correct fit and material!
You don’t have to go to a shop to change transmission fluid and filter!
