Slight L/R axle shaft freeplay noise

After putting the front of the SS, up on ramps, to double check everything for tightness, after the Pedders coilover installation, I noticed something, I'd never checked before. Grabbing both L/R axle shafts, and moving them in and out toward the hub, I had a little end play, and a slight clunk at the hub.
Not sure if this is normal and within specs. End play is very slight, but enough to make a noise, when moved toward the hub.
Anyone care to check theirs for me, to see if this is normal, or that I might too much end play on the axle shafts.? Thanks. "Moon"
P.S. everything I could check in front end, was tight.

Hey Moon, when we installed Bunkies Pedder Coilovers we adjusted them about 1/2" from there lowest setting! He noticed a humming sound from the front shafts that seemed they didn't like being adjusted to the lowest setting, that far from stock on his SS!

The axle shaft is supposed to have play. The tripot is basically a slip joint, so that you can go over bumps in the road without damaging the drive train. That's what they use instead of real "constant velocity" joints on the inner end.

Unless, the axles were removed and the re installer did not seat the circle lock thing-a-ma-jigs into the trans.

The axle end play was only with vehicle on ramps and not driven. No noise when vehicle is driven. End play was very slight on axles, it was just something I was curious about, whether it was within specs. or not. thanks "Moon"
