bassbase- Yes sealed trannys, but of course full of fluid.

Snoopy- Yes it is true, BMW did away with the auto tranny dipsticks a while back. Not sure about engine dip sticks ?

Actually, I think the reasoning is to go to the dealer ($$$), rathar than a DIY dealio..
