Mine averages just under 35 MPG, 34.8 to be exact. I sent a picture to my sister when the DIC sait 39.4 about a month ago, I've seen it say 47.7 but did not have a camera. Once in a while I actually check the mileage and it is always exactly the same as the DIC, so unless the mileage is wrong the DIC is dead on. Mine being a 2007 it does not have the instant mileage feature, which I have no doubt would be over 60 MPG quite often.

I tried putting it in Neutral once on a downhill section about 4 miles long near where I live. It was the only time the rear end ever came around on me and the mileage increase was considerably less than when I kept it in gear on the same section both before and after that. It doesn't make sense but I see no point in worrying about it.

I have the 2.2 engine and an automatic. I see no difference at all with the A/C on or off, the only way I can tell it is on is the cold air blowing out of the vents and the light being on. I have no doubt I get the high mileage because I drive like an old lady on downers and after engaging the cruise control I let it do everything, always.

I've never seen below 32 on the highway, I've never seen below 30 in town. I rarely drive it in town as I have another vehicle I prefer for that, the vast majority of the 23000 or so miles I've put on it have been on the highway. I've had it for 1 1/2 years, before that it was my Grandfathers car until he had to be put in a nursing home, he put about 2000 miles on it in about a year. He bought it used with about 18500 and it was delivered to me with about 22500, my parents drove it for about two months before I got it.

No I didnt check and see what the DIC was reading for my average. I know with the tank of gas that I checked it with about 200 of the 360 miles was highway miles @ about 75-80mph and all the rest was stop and go city driving so that is what really hurt the average.

I know mine has been crap lately. The front defroster (using the a/c pump) really takes a chunk out of the average mpg on the dic.

.
I was told when u let off the throttle the injectors shut down and that is the best mileage you can get. Better mileage than Neutral.
