Exclamation "08 Ss" Hhr

Here are my thoughts on the "08 SS" HHR. With the cancelation of the Cobalt SS supercharged for the 08 model year. I don't think that the SS HHR will hit untill the turbo eco is introduced for the 09 model year. With world reveals durring the auto show season for the delta cousins.

I could be wrong but these are my thoughts.

Ecotec Turbo is already available in the Solstice GXP and the Saturn Sky Redline.

Stuns.....

I guess you haven't been keeping current on the proposed "SS". The consensus by every car mag. writer and members on all the forums, is the 2.0 lt. DI turbo will be the powerplant.

If you use the search function here, you can find articles and photos. Note in the photos the front grill area. Appears to be an intercooler, in the lower section.

As for the year of intro, that remains a mystery. It was thought to be a 2008 model. But, I understand GM is encountering cooling, emission standard and drivetrain problems. So it might be a late 2008 or 2009.......my guess.

Are they having these issues with the Solstice and the Sky as well?

260 HP is allot of power for a front drive car. I once read that anything over 220 or so becomes a challenge.

Maybe I did not clearly empart my thoughts. The "reveal" was that the 2.0 turbo would be the power plant for these two cars. Not that the LNF would be revealed. My bad. I guess context gets a little lost in the reading.

It was a challenge for Cadillac to do the Northstar FWD back in the day, then Chevy and Pontiac did the LS4 FWD, now they have to figure out how to pack that much power into a car that doesn't have room for the 4T60 transmission. Maybe they're trying to get it to work on the new 6T40 6-speed?

I dunno. I'll be surprised to see an HHR-SS at all after the big announcement from Lutz a few weeks ago. Especially when they're taking so much flak for slapping the SS badge on everything short of the Uplander.
