They did not have flex fuel back in 2007 as an option, wish they did. I do not burn premium in my 2.4L as it screams just fine. Want to race?

I love these threads considering the performance numbers between the 2.2 and 2.4 are not that much different.

Bat man already said it but if your shopping just try one 2.0 its the baby that rules the HHR roost.

Picking up my 2011 HHR tomorrow with a 2.2. Wanted to get the LT but getting laid off from my job put a damper on that; getting an LS. Kind of ironic that I get my first brand new car when I'm unemployed..lol. I did get the Pioneer speaker option w/sub w/My Link package....gotta have my tunes..lol

Thanks...haven't driven a standard in years...lol Didn't want the auto since my company HHR had one and it was terrible in the snow. At least it was for me.

Why don't you just ask each member which engine that they own? Of course, each one is going to be biased to their own purchase... I have the "little" 2.0. Duh, I wish I had a 2.4 because it's bigger? You'll never be able to get the virtues of each engine by asking owners unless an engine is a dud. In this case, all 3 Eco's have their place.

auto vs manual

There is a major performance difference between the manual and the automatic transmission versions of the HHR. The 2.2 with an automatic is pretty anemic. That combination is slow enough that I would not consider it. The 2.4 with manual accelerates much more strongly. Mileage is similar throughout. Manual 2.2 and auto 2.4s fall somewhere between these non-SS extremes. Girlfriend and I each went for the (rare) 2.4 manual and love it! Clearly, its the next hottest thing compared to that unmentionable 2.0!

I didn't buy the 2009 with the 2.4 so i am stuck with my 2008 with the 2.2 with the automatic
