My car got hit last night and hit my drivers door and dented the handle... Now I can't open my drivers door... Any ideas on how to get it open? 2006 hhr

Opening a damaged door can be difficult.

Will the window still go down? If so you may be able to look down into the door from the window opening and see what's stoping to latch from releasing.

The impact could have damaged the door handle and disconnected the rods from the latch mechanism.
How creased is the door?
Are you going to get the door repaired as an insurance claim! Make sure this issue is included in the repairs!
Are you alright? That's the main interest , the door can be repaired or replace , but you are the most important!

Sorry about the circumstances that brought your here, but being that you were hit in the door, the usual "Door Stuck" tricks go right out the window.

Your best bet may be to see if a bodyshop can get the door to function again for you before you take it in for repairs.

And being that you did "take a shot" in the door, the safety of your HHR will be compromised until it is fixed, so have it repaired A.S.A.P.

 

You might just want to get a replacement door, one from any year will fit 2006 till 2011, now in 2009 the window switches migrated to the drivers interior door panel , so there might be some modifications required to get your panel to fit.
But it can be done.
I looked on eBay and saw one for $229.00 plus shipping of course!
