2006 LT - Junkyard Bonanza

Hi: I took a quick ride to our local junkyard to grab a few things, and they actually had 9 HHR's, mostly in pretty good condition overall, and came back with everything I needed and had been asking about in a couple of my previous posts. I picked up the rear plastic seat belt cover that was missing, as well as a newer gas door spring (plus a spare), an ignition coil that was new in the box that had fallen under the front seat, new rubber grommet for the Torx bolt holding the air cleaner near the radiator cap, the radio controls/switch and wiring harness for the steering wheel that took only about 20 minutes to swap out and works great, a fog light switch, a battery vent tube with no cracks, a bunch of extra door panel clips, 2 headlight bulbs, a factory cargo net, and another rear cargo shelf, which I've included pics below. It may not be to everyone's taste, however it gives my daughter some extra storage options, as well as security for her stuff if she stores it between the 2 shelves, all for only $23 plus tax. As always, appreciate all the help from the peeps on this forum, as well as searching through all the threads and learning as much as I can about these HHR's.

Nice finds! I used to love junk yard search days, but now nobody’s allowed into most yards.

Thanks, I think as soon as the weather warms up here a little in Northeast PA, I'm going to make another trip back for a couple of spare door handles, and maybe a few other misc parts. We're lucky we still have a place that lets you walk around and pick your own parts. We have 3 places within an hour or so of each other called "Harry's U-Pull-It". They advertise on some local billboards, and their logo is a picture of a "hefty" man bending over the fender of a car with his butt crack exposed, yuck, but it gets the point across, lol......

There’s a local yard that lets me pull my own stuff. It seems some yards kind of size you up and make a call as to whether you can be trusted to not hurt yourself. I only do it myself if easy. Mild freezing weather is great because the mud is frozen.

Yes, Pee Wee Herman, back in the day, for having fun with himself in a XXX movie house.

Same here, most of the mud is frozen, but we've had a couple of warm days here in PA, and when it melts, yuck, what a mess......

Can we call them Pick A Part, instead of you pull it ?

Spares List

We have a pull-a-part here also. Last count, 4 HHRs. Maybe some of the long time HHR owners can recommend a list of spare parts it might be good to pull and keep on hand.
