The main problem is that GM disdcontinued the Tech2 Scanner a few years ago and before that the training was "here, follow the directions on the screen" they never bothered to train the mechanics how to interpret the screen.
The new computer tool can do mostly the same stuff, but the newest HHR is over 10 years old and I doubt you will find a "technician" in a GM service department that is over 30 years old.

I discovered that locally at a Chevrolet dealer and they did not understand anything relating to resetting to original mileage.
I have found plenty of New & Used GM Tech Scanners for sale, my main concern is that the Odometer & BCM are not programmed together, they are not both original.
Could I set the Odometer myself with Non Original Odometer?

If so I might purchase one myself!

I also had a problem 3 months ago with my 2009 HHR and I ordered and replaced with a used one closest to the original miles and it works fine.

I do, my job depends on the mileage every 2 weeks and the 3,000 mile tune-ups is covered by them!

I use Milage a & b to keep a list of how far I drive each work day and every 2 weeks I take a photo of the Odometer and send it to my supervisor so the company can confirm my miles as true and pay me for the milage and time driven.

Wait. What ? You have another HHR that you also had to replace the instrument panel ? The story is starting to sound a little odd. That and the funny use of the English language going on......well now I'm beginning to wonder if we're being phished.

First of all they are registered as business vehicles and if you would read of how many other people have all kinds of trouble with there HHR Clusters.

Mine registered and all repairs sponsored through the company I have been working for since 2018 along with all of the certified Mechanic Receipts with all miles from purchase dates and all Wal-Mart Oil Changes, New Tires and 1 recall from dealer with each receipt with original miles before I had no dash lights and no speed working on the 2009, just what was I supposed to do relating to a Cluster??????
Any other suspicion I will give you the VIN # for both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not read of more than 1 person having problems with the original instrument cluster. Only 3 that couldn't find a tech to fix a used one, 1 that did. I have been around this site since 2009.
Problems encountered these days is untrained technicians not parts. If you can't replace it with a new part, it can't be fixed is a dealership mechanic mantra.

Four suggestions:
The TRUE mileage is stored in the BCM, you can buy a code reader that will read it. The trip odos probably do work, an enterprising person could just write the mileage down and keep track. You could expand your travel circle to over 50 miles to find a tech that knows what to do. You could purchase a used Tech2 Scanner and learn how to use it, the information needed is on the interwebs.

I am willing to drive 50 miles away from this county!
That was my mistake,
I looked and emailed 8 Certified Collision Shops 50 miles away with the specifics asking them if they received a Full Coverage Insured 2007 Chevrolet HHR that is not totaled and the Cluster is destroyed, where/how would they replace it?
These are the words:
I have been dragged around by Chevrolet dealers that stated they no longer make New Odometers for my HHR and could not set my original miles, mechanics and then a member of the Chevrolet HHR club, advised me to ask a Collision Repair shop.

My 2007 Chevrolet HHR Original Speedometer/Odometer was cracked, everything still worked, just cracked in the center so I trashed it.

I contacted places online that would reset the milage to my original miles using the Original BCM with Original Odometer, I had to purchase a tested used one closest to my original mileage and is under warranty, I placed it in and Odometer will not go another mile ahead, everything else works fine! The BCM is the Original!

My question to your type of Professional Collision Repair is, what would you do to correct this matter in a non totaled 2007 Chevrolet HHR LS that needed a Speedometer/odometer replaced and then set to the original miles?

I am located in Roane County and willing to go 50 miles around Roane County, TN to simply go to driving this little car I like!

This is the website that referred me to asking for your help

Possibly in South Pittsburg TN

Or Crossville TN

Of course call them first.
