06 into a 08. Not really.
The 06 2.2 was a kind of "stand alone year" engine for the HHR. The 2.2 got upgraded and changed for the 2007 and 2008.
Thus, the engines, wiring harness and computers are different between the 06's and 08's.
If you're looking for a replacement engine for a HHR, it is usually best and easiest to stick with the same year engine.
