2008 LT1 5speed and cruise control
Just curious can anyone explain this; I had my cruise control set at 64 mph the other morning and was going up a curving ramp from one freeway to another, at the top of the curve starting down the other side and the clutch seems to disengage long enough to slow down the car and then it resumes and returns to 64 mph. This is a 5 speed manual with abs brakes and no stability control or traction control that I know of, what is it, something programmed in an onboard computer, part of cruise control or what.
Not disengaging the clutch, but more likely chopping the ignition or fuel injectors back to keep at the preset speed, it probably feels like a loss of power or a clutch slip from the driver's seat. I'd say its normal operation and just part of the cruise control's speed maintaining function.
Thanks for the input, it's like discovering a whole new aspect of a car I've driven for 3 years. Mighty fascinating these new fangled inventions. Kinda puzzles me and at the same time makes feel even safer driving this puppy.
