Perhaps the mixture is a tad leaner under cruise control, but if they leaned it down that much under normal driving conditions, the engine might stumble when you touched the gas pedal. Folks would taking their cars to the dealer to gripe about a rough engine- and they can't have that happen. Now I know to set the cruise control as often as I can.
