Are All Tailgates Interchangeable?

I知 looking for a new tailgate/back door for my 2006 HHR. Can I assume that any door will work? I contacted someone about one and they needed my VIN number to make sure it値l work. Does that make sense? Thanks!

All models ,LS/LT all years 2006 thru 2011 and the SS 2008 thru 2010 are all the same part number .
only difference would be the colour , a hoop spoiler or SS spoiler. And that’s about it.

Where is the connectors to replace the electric/water? I pulled the top of the connector and didn't see it there- is it in the body?

The washer line is in the roof and the electrical is behind the panel on the hatch door.

Please have two or three helpers to lift that tailgate/lift gate , it’s way to heavy for one fellow to hold and unbolt the hinges!

Well thanks for your help! It all went real easy, I figured out an easy way to replace the back door. (I'll be painting it someday)
