IF you don't want the sunroof (I didn't either), get the LS and become VERY ebay savy. I have upgraded the radio, steering wheel, wheels, running boards, spoiler, springs, and grille on my 08 LS with OEM parts for a lot less than the option price. All new parts except radio and springs. Just can't get in too much of a hurry. I'm an old school rodder that grew up scrounging junk yards for parts in the 60's. Still more fun to add your own than check off an option list. By the way, you would be surprised how many of the LT guys will want to swap for your body color door handles.

If you ever want to get some good ideas and info on the HHR, why don't you come out to one of our local Gateway HHR get togethers or activities.

Have seen some postings regarding head room in the HHR from 6 footers and taller. Some seem to think the head room is tight but have noticed with mine having the sunroof, that there is a perception at least, of having more head room. So you might give the sunroof some consideration depending on your height.

Remember, if you are looking at a 2.4, then it has to be an LT. 2.4 is standard on 2LT, an option on the 1LT. AFAIK, the LS is only available in a 2.2.

It pays to be choosy, black was my 4th choice color (have NO regrets!), but it had ALL of the options I was looking for (2LT, sunroof, auto) and quite a few more I was cool not having (PAL, tinted windows, door sills, cargo hold, etc) but glad I have now--plus, I got a great deal on it.

Again, I got mine labor Day weekend and got almost $6K off of it from all the rebates and such--so be picky if you can and don't be afraid to bargain!

If you want the 2.4 five speed and are buying new, you're locked into a 2LT.That has the boards, the chrome pack, leather wheel,Pioneer speakers(at least on an '08),and the fancy wheels(which on an '09 look like, but aren't the same as,the '08 Shadow edition).

Please don't read this in a negative fashion, cause I'm here to sell you on the best car I've ever owned....But maybe the dealerships are telling you something. Maybe put off a car right now, or trade in one of your other ones. My SS is great fun, but

IT COST MORE THAN THE HOUSE I AM BUYING!!!!!!!

So take care of the priorities first. I'm sure that you are, and that you are quite responsible. However I don't want to see your house on the foreclosure lists I've benn scanning lately.

I'd also try to sell ya on a manual. If you wanna save gas, it is the way to go.

well im only 5'5 so head room is not an issue, if i had money i would go against the "HHR" and chop it lol. but for somereason around here u can seem to find what i call "mutt" cars. models that shouldn't have the options they do. but i do understand what everyone is telling me and all this is PLENTY helpfull so keep it all coming in. and do the 2.4 require premium fuel???

The owner's manual says so, but the 2.4 runs fine on the regular stuff.

I'm 6' tall and just for t.h.o.i. I measured (rough) my HHR with no sunroof.
It has:
1. More headroom than my Denali with sunroof.
2. Same headroom as my Sierra p/u with no sunroof.
3. Less headroom than my Harley.

As all of the hardware for the sunroof is inside the cab, it would seem that the sunroof would decrease headroom in parts of the cab.
