Ok if you want a real sleeper, Take an SS Panel and a donor SS, install the second SS motor in the rear of the first SS. It would take some serious engineering but the result would be bad a$$. You would have 500+ HP, All wheel drive and 4 wheel steering. I would like to see one smoking all 4 tires off the line.

There are conversions for Cavaliers and 1st gen Focuses. I think someone still makes the kit for the Focus. The original Solstice concept car was a RWD-converted Cavalier. One could probably adapt the kit for the Focus to work with the HHR, or design a similar conversion. Everything would have to be custom fabbed, but it's not impossible. The problem would be getting the car balanced properly and everything lined up so the car drives straight.

LSx, 4L60-E, and custom Ford 9-inch out back would be a nice setup.
