Synthetic or not, I would still be more comfortable checking it at regular intervals. I have a huge diesel RV with an Allison six speed transmission, filled with synthetic. Though the change cycle is 100,000 miles, it does have a dip stick for checking at least every time the vehicle is serviced.

changeing trans. fluid on my auto, the book says to change at 50,000 miles I have a little over 41,000 had it checked everything ok just wanted to be ready, the trans shop i had check it said everything is OK that is when I found out you have to go to the chevy dealer, i mhad a problum with the traction control was on but that got fixed for $25.00.

From my 08 Owners Manual, 50K change (Severe Service only). See footnote (h)
section 6, page 8.

Change automatic trans fluid & filter if..........

- In heavy city traffic where outside temp regularly reaches 90*F
- In hilly or mountainous terrain
- When doing frequent trailer towing
- Uses such as found in taxi, police or delivery

If not, it does not require changing.

PS: I'll be changing mine at 50K anyway. Syn Fluid is much cheaper than a tranny..

-In hilly or mountainous terrain-I live in Texas hmmm this concerns me. Im like some of you guys with or without a dipstick I still want to know fluid level. There is a cap on top move the wires over and you will see it. Its the path flow of wires between the engine and fuse box area. On the bottom a small screw same side as the torque converter is on. And of course there is a drain plug. I've got to get a camera.
