backseat headrest
backseat headrest
alright here the deal i didn't know till after 3 days that the head rest for my back seats are missing and i bought it from a dealership and i been trying to get them to contact to the previous owner which apparently for the dealership but i've not had much luck with that so with that in mind where can i get oem head rest my car has grey leather seats no junk yard in my town has them and nor does ebay is there a site where i can get them without being pricy
The dealership is responsible for providing a LEGAL to drive vehicle. I am pretty sure that Federal regulation mandates the rear headrests. If your state has safety inspections you should check with the regulating authority, in VA it's the State Police.
What I am saying is: the dealer that sold the car must provide the required safety equipment. If your state has safety inspections, then whoever inspected the vehicle could be in deep doo-doo.

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 202-49 CFR Part 571 requires all passenger vehicles to be equipped with head rests for outboard front and rear seating positions effective Jan 1, 2008.
Removal of said devices from a vehicle for other than temporary reasons is prohibited by Federal law, reselling a vehicle with missing mandatory safety equipment does happen.
The original owners may have lost the head rests, but the onus would be on the dealer to make an effort to replace them if possible.
As Don said, check with your local authorities, here in NC items like head rests are not checked during annual inspections.

First, as mentioned by other members, the dealer needs to stand up on this problem. You should remind (nicely) THE MANAGEMENT of that dealership they sold you a vehicle not meeting Federal Safety Standards. If that is handled correctly you will have positive results.
Second, if you find the above to much of a hassle, you may wish to check on these headrests that are for sale by a forum member. The link is below......

Local police? No. It's not within their powers here in Alabama. You might try the Alabama DMV.
Or, put on your best "BS" face and insist that the dealer get some for you because they're breaking a federal law by selling the car without headrests.

Your selling Dealer might not take responsibility saying they were in the car when they sold it and if they were missing you should have mentioned it before finalizing the purchase transaction.
It might come down to can you prove they were missing when you picked it up or if they are a caring and ligit dealership they might make it right..
I guess it's worth a try.

I guess some syntax has gotten garbled.
It is Federal law that the headrests be in the car when it was delivered to you. Local has nothing to do with it.
The dealer should be informed (nicely) that they may be in violation of the federal law referenced above. If you go in with facts and law numbers and you are reasonable things get done. But, don't bother talking to anybody lower in the pecking order than the General Manager, the salesman and the closer will give you a boat load of BS.
